How to install marble tiles

Travertine marble is a beautiful and easy to cut material and it can be use in many projects, in this case I am installing it on this house first floor, the owners were tired of carpets, uneven floors, transitions and the fact that they were not able to keep up with so many surfaces. In this video I will show you some of the techniques that I use. Thank you for watching and please subscribe!!

wait, like you were a little kid and play with it?

dozdeshabb says:

Mr. Correa. When laying any kind of tiles , specially costly marble a and stone , its recommended to remove all baseboards.
Its easier to reinstall baseboards than redoing the Marble.

Jack Kelly says:

Travertine is actually a type of limestone, not marble as suggested in the video. Also, as many people already stated you MUST leave a suitable grout joint 1/32-1/16 for natural stone due to deviations in size (rectified vs unrectified stone and tile).

whatburnout says:

The problem with this install you must have a 1/32 or 1/16 or 1/8 in joint. And you must back butter each tile. And you can not butt you tile to tight to baseboard.you have to remove baseboard for expansion or movement.

EvaBongoria says:

Just cut the bottom of that trim off, lol. I assume the customer was cool with you giving that trim a strong haircut?

knightryderbelow says:

Thanks for the tips! Best video I’ve seen on this so far.

Angel Ortega says:

tienes que quitar las molduras wey

Ask This Old Tile Man says:

I would agree with whatburnout comments.

₪cobone₪ says:

The baseboard molding should have been removed and reinstalled over the new tiles.

Walfred Melendez says:

float and level the floor with cement and then install using dry-pack or regular cement using thin set only on the surface of the floor and behind the marble, its the way I learned. just my 2 cents… nice vid

Aurel Rusanda says:

This is why i like working with bigger pieces of marble and in general stone. a floor will look better with 1m+ marble slabs.
Bookmatch always.

Miguel Acevedo says:

You need to leave some space in between to a firm grout bond with the travertine if there’s is movement on the sub floor it will crack easier if not just peel off the joint.

Hey bro, really been enjoying your videos, shower pan, marble tile with no spacers! I have a question … even butting marble 18×18 tiles I still have about 1/32 grout line naturally. I was thinking about grouting them but i was going to use a no sanded grout! What you think???! Your videos kick ass! And as far as the base being on when laying tile. It’s up to the customer and if your a tile god and the house is super close to square, you will never see any imperfection. Just start on main wall and but to base! Tape off to caulk the corner and it’s sealed right!!!! You are a tile god send to me. Making big money and happy customers thanks to you! Haters gonna hate!

Emmanuel Soriano says:

keep practicing your craft, and always be open to advice.
