Creative marble-effect floor design with the spatula technique

With the decorative spatula technique shown here you can transform old resilient floor coverings into attractive designs, using the Dr. Schutz PU Color Sealer System.

First a layer of medium-grey PU Color is applied with an appropriate sealer roller to the whole area. Working lengthways in lanes, then crossing at right angles, roll it out evenly so that a clean surface results. This floor design layer must dry for about one to two hours.

After the first layer has dried, a second coat in the identical shade of colour is applied, in order to cover any lighter shades underneath. This coat must also be allowed to dry sufficiently long.

Now it’s time to apply a second shade of colour with a flexible spatula. The colour here is somewhat lighter than the first layer. The user should apply PU Color in thin layers which creates a beautiful, marble-effect pattern on the floor.

Finally, the area is sealed with a transparent PU Sealer from Dr. Schutz. Here Super PU Sealer mat is used. The sealer is very hard-wearing and provides the floor covering with long-term protection from scratches and friction damage. The last coat of sealer should have hardened about 12 hours after drying, before it can be walked on carefully.

The floor has now been redesigned and sealed – Dr. Schutz offers PU Color in nearly all available colours in the RAL spectrum- as well as many other shades of colour.
