I didn’t see a mark where the stud was, so what did you nail that to, the drywall? And fitting a tongue and groove floor with a nail in it will be impossible and show the inside of the board (non laminate part). I could see this working with only glue and using something to keep pressure on it until the glue started to adhere. And doing it over a few days so the base that is holding the weight is solid. I would also nail that bottom board into studs through the front of the board, and cover it with trim.

Is an expansion gap necessary since its not floating as on a floor? If its glued to the wall is expansion going to occur.
